Kaikoura Earthquake Update

Following the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck the Kaikoura region last week there have been some major impacts to our operations in that area. Currently our Live Paua facility is not operational and until we have a full structural survey completed on the building we cannot give an accurate timeframe for it to reopen.

Additionally the earthquake has had a profound impact on the marine geography of the area, with some seabed’s having risen in excess of 2m above the surface of the ocean. This has fundamentally changed the fishery and until such time as a full assessment of these changes, and their long term impact, have been carried out the area will be closed to all commercial fishing.

All our thoughts go out to the local community at this time and we ask for your patience whilst the assessment of region is completed.
